I'm not an AOL user, and I ALWAYS have difficulty transferring files of ANY kind to my friends who ARE AOL users.

Ugggh. Is there a way to email .jpg files to my AOL friends?

There is little you can do at your end about this, but if you wish to send the recipient the following information, perhaps they can learn to access the files.

AOL downloads files to a folder called "Download".

That is located at:

C:\AOL(version number)\Download

The "version number" means the AOL program version. For instance if there is an AOL 5.0 and AOL 6.0 on the recipients computer, there will two AOL entries:

C:\AOL5.0\Download

and

C:\AOL6.0\Download

The downloaded files will be in the "Download" folder that was used to received the email with the file attached.

The earlier version of AOL (5.0 in our example) can be uninstalled through the:

Start
Settings
Control Panel
Add-Remove Programs
Highlight AOL and click the "Add-Remove Programs" button. Choose the version of AOL you wish to uninstall. You will asked if you wish to save any information from AOL and if you say yes, folders will placed on your Desktop containing this data.

If the recipient wants to make it easier to get to the Download folder, they can make a "Shortcut" to the AOL\Download folder on the Desktop.

Right click on "My Computer"
Select "Explore"
In the left pane view:
Click the + sign next to C:\ drive
Click the + sign next to C:\AOL
Right click on the Download folder
Select "Send To"
Desktop (Create Shortcut)
Now, when files are downloaded, they can access the files by clicking the Desktop shortcut to "Download".

Finally, the AOL user can connect to AOL, then minimize the AOL browser and "surf" the Internet using Internet Explorer (which is very likely all ready installed). They can create an email account with Hotmail or Yahoo mail and send and receive email (and attachments) that way.

I hope this will be of some assistance.
