Does anyone know how to turn these off?

I find them very annoying. I'm using Vista and IE.

Thanks a bunch.

You know what? I don't know.

I was looking for "help" and "about" to tell me, but there is no "help".

How do I find out with Vista?

Thanks.

Try this method Tree.
IE is always the same layout regardless of the operating System.

I haven't tried IE8.0 yet. So am not qualified to tell you where these settings are ,though it will be in a similar location . I Know this from going from version 6 to 7 Smile

Here are the Version 7 details:
Go into the Control Panel ,click Internet Options
Next click the Content Tab (in the middle)

In this Window look for the AutoComplete section.Click the "settings" button
In the Next small window untick the Web addresses and Forms boxes the Usernames and Passwords box comes into play rarely, Leave that ticked (it can act as a life saver if you forget?) NOTE it is also featured on Google Chrome

TIP Do leave the "Save Password" Prompt box unticked
Lastly Do read the Message at the Foot of the Window before you click the "OK" button to delete the list and Close the page.
No way back once you have done that!

One more optional job in Internet Options
Click on the Advanced Tab (furthest right)
Now scroll down the List to the Browsing section
Now continue down until you see Use Inline Autocomplete Untick this box. Click Apply ,then the OK boxes to save and close the window.
Be aware that You will not be able to use saved passwords(In Internet Explorer) while this box is unchecked Roll Eyes

Baffling... Only other route is to go into the Registry Roll Eyes (Thinking aloud! disregard!) Nothing on the Security controls

I got it!

---
In your google “splash” page or the page most people have when they use google. How to turn off googles auto suggest or complete...

See the 3 lines next to the bar, ( if you have never noticed this, you are not alone!)
Select preferences
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to Query Suggestions-
and uncheck Provide query suggestions in the search box.

This will stop the suggestions. Now if you use a cleaner such as CC cleaner or any registry cleaner or something that clears your cookies, you will have to reset this preference, which I find highly annoying.
I wish they had made the default to be turned off rather then on.
Hope this helps you!

I got this answer from my gardening site, of all places. Big Grin
