I have been running Ralf Chat on my site for a few years. I just read that version 1.1 dates back to 1998. I know there have been a lot of problems with the chat room over the years. I haven't found a suitable replacement. The version I want to load on my server is 1.2.1 which was released in 2005. I downloaded the new version on my server but I have to reprogram the old one with the new information. It won't just overwrite; I have to write it. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with my server and they don't know very much about chat rooms. They have an XChat which I didn't like. If I edit and make one mistake, the entire site go down. I need to know if my idea will work. I'm thinking of copying all the smilies, codes and important pages into a folder on my computer. I then want to just delete all the info on the server and start from scratch. I can download the Ralf chat 1.2.1 and just upload and copy my codes. Do you think this idea will work?
