I've just experienced the most annoying pop up or pop over! These "just type it and go" pop ups that cover the entire screen - anyone have any suggestions on how to get out of these? There is no x button to close the window. I have tried alt ctrl delete, but that takes me back to my desktop full of short cut icons. Is there a way to get rid of these large pop ups without shutting down everything I'm working on in the process? Help - help - help! Thanks!!

Sounds like you have a pop up adware generator installed on your comp Mad
Have you got an "Ad ware" program scan program like Ad-aware or Spybot ect
You will have to run this to acertain what causing this Ad "snow storm" Frown before we tell you how to remove this pest Smile
If you have an new Icon (on your Desktop)with the Ad companies Name that will be a great help thanks Wink It may also be found on your "Start menu"? Roll Eyes

Hi skrip:
Have you tried ALT-F4 ? This should close those things.

I believe those are called "Cromeless" (sp?) windows. They can be started by a bit of Java script on the webpage that uses them.

I keep wondering how an advertiser thinks they can sell us something using tactics that just make us mad. Confused Mad

I went on one of those sites with the "Cromeless"(you did spell it right Smile)Windows and came out of it with no adverse behavior/effects(had a wander around several pages)
I'd suggest that Skrip may need to have his Java settings (in Internet Explorer) adjusted? And updating his (Java)drivers off the Microsoft site?

You can also try closing them by pressing the Windows key and "D" keys. That should minimize everything, then right click on the task-bar icon and choose close.

I hope this helps!

Dwight

P.S. The Windows key is usually between the Ctrl key and the Alt key, to the left of the Spacebar.

Hey again!

Alt F4 seems to work every time for this chromeless beast. The windows key and D seems to work only part of the time, unless I'm not doing it right. thanks everyone!
