In the last couple of weeks, when I enter something in the address bar, the search comes from Quick Service. I want to use Yahoo for searches. How do I change back to Yahoo for the address bar? I know that I can go to Yahoo and search from there. But, I want to search directly from Yahoo on address bar.

Dixie:
Lets see if I can get this right:

1. At top of IE select VIEW / Expolorer Bar / Search.

2. Now select Customize --> a new window will open.

3. Now click AutoSearch Settings.

4. Now you can select Yahoo from the pull down list. You can also select how a Address bar search will work through the second pull down list.

5. Now back all the way out by OK / OK / The little X in the search frame.

Hopefully that should do it. smile

Something I don't understand is how these Search providers get into the drop down list, I would like to use Google for this but it doesn't appear. confused confused

Byter, I got through step 1 OK. The only "customize" I could find was if I right clicked on the "search" icon. But that didn't give me any drop down options for changing the search engine - just for the icons on the Explorer Bar. Which IE version are you using? Maybe I clicked the wrong thing?

I go to View/Explorer Bar/Search. A window comes up on the left, I then click "Customize", then "Autosearch Settings." I then choose Yahoo from dropdown, click Ok, click OK again to get of out of "Customize Search Settings." It still won't search from Yahoo. I have tried different ways but cannot get it to change. Very frustrating.

Dixie, Try this:

After you click Customize and the new window comes up Select the RADIO BUTTON that says "Use one Search Service" then select Yahoo and back out.

TenderFoot: I'm useing Wind. '95 & I.E.5.5 This might explane the differance. One thing I did notice on my computer is after step 1 and you have that frame to the left. It may be too small to see the "CUTOMIZE" button.

If that's your case you can either click the little icon that kind of looks like this >>
That should bring up the CUST. Button.
OR
Put your mouse in the devideing line between the two frames and when mouse turns to Double ended arrow, Left click, hold & Drag to the right. This should make the Cust. Button visible.

Good Luck

Byter -- I have IE6 so that's probably the difference. Customize search is apparently not an option in IE6. Thanks for trying.

Tenderfoot -- Customize is included in the version of IE6 downloaded from Microsoft.

Byter -- Search, Customize, AutoSearch Settings includes "Google sites" in the current IE6 release.
