O.k. here is the deal.. I made my own web site through a computer class at my school and it is on my teachers web site and she said she will keep it up on her site until next school year. I want it to be out there in the world of the web for ever. I am looking for a domain through Yahoo and thinking about getting one for that site. My question is: how do I get that web site that I made through school on my domain site so it can we out there for ever and I don't have to get it through my teachers web site? I explained it the best I could please help. I think time is running out. LOL. Eek

First thing to do would be to copy all the files to a zip disk or something and then to your hard drive for safe keeping! Then U have for ever to decide to host your files and what name to get!

Hi Doug:
There's a bunch of ways you could go about this but here's one.

Make a New folder on your computer then visit the first page of your site on the teacher's domain.

Now select "File" and "Save As". In the window that comes up, browse to your new folder and also select "Web page, complete" in the "Save as Type" box.
Click save and the HTML as well as all content will be saved to your machine.

Do the same for each page and when the whole site is on your computer you can Upload it (FTP or ??) to its new home.

One note, you maght have to do some repair to the links to any images, sounds or other stuff you are using to reflect the new URL it resides at.

Some of that can be taken care of by using RELATIVE addresses in your HTML.

Hope this helps

Hi Doug:
After a little more checking into the above method I've found that
it really messes with the addresses in the HTML for the page.
It's makeing all content available "OFFLINE". All addresses are now
reflecting the contents location on your hard-drive. Eek Mad

You can get a copy off the net by selecting "View" then "Source" This will oprn the HTML of the page in Notepad, (Wordpad if your page is realy huge)
Then this can be saved as .html & you got it.
