Do I need to fix.
This showed up when I clicked a link.
It has never appeared before


The config file is writeable by the webserver. This is a major security risk because anyone can change your server settings now by using the install script.

phpBB will not be able to run until this is fixed. On unix systems this can be done with the following command:


chmod 644 config.php
Or use your FTP program to do this.
Switch on the 'read-only' attribute if you are running the script on a Windows machine.

This doesn't relate to you at all. The person who created the site made a mistake in their codes and needs to fix it. The message is for them. The most you can do is e-mail the site admin and let them know what happened. Otherwise, just ignore it and move on.

Open Internet Explorer>tools>Internet Options
Click on the "Advanced" tab on the Window(Right hand side) that opens on a long check list untick "Display a notification about every Script error" and tick the item above it "Enable Script debugging"
Then press the "Apply" and "Ok" buttons to save the settings and close the Window
