I have not experienced this problem before and am at a complete loss.

I have Windows XP. Typically I log on to MSN Explorer - which dials me in and establishes a connection. Then I am able to do everything and anything I want on the internet.

Now, after I get "connected" - MSN Explorer is attemtping to make a secondary connection automatically and then gives me an error message indicating that it is not able to log me in - I am connected to the internet, but obviously not to MSN. I cannot get at MSN sites or Hotmail. The initial hotmail logon screen appears, but nothing happens after that.

Now, perhaps this is just an issue that MSN is having or would it appear to be something else? I am at a total loss.....any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

I get that reply when I am not signed onto my messeger from MSN, hope that helps.

I've never used MSN messenger (I think it's installed) and have never had to sign onto anything differently that I still am. I can get to IE, but cannot get at any MSN sites. I have to go to Netscape in order to access Hotmail.

MSN messenger is part of your hotmail
and msn program. You use the same
password for both of them, which is
your hotmail email.

somehow, my DOB and my location got changed in the Passport (although I hadn't changed anything) - MSN informed me that they have made some changes on their side for me and I should be ok within a 24 hour period. Sounds quite odd to me, but I'll see what happens before the end of the day tomorrow...

Yeh, I knew it had to be passport, kind of confusing, especially if you have more than one hotmail account
