I have been trying out different Download Managers with varying results recently
They are supposed to be able to grab all the file and switch to another server if there is an identical file there and they all "pinch" a different portion and merge it into the final zip file(the file you use )
Some of these programs use spyware to monitor you

Others leave calling cards(GoZilla

) which can be time consuming to get rid of

I started last month with
Download Access Manager 7 had some small problems with it regarding finding download links but Worked OK apart from Heavy traffic? knocking my download speeds down at times and dropping the link (NO Auto restart

)Spyware quite a bit

Though most fended off with Spywareblaster and My Firewall(I'm running Broadband hence Hits on Firewall increase like mad when downloading

)
I next tried
FreshDownload this was spyware free. A lot of people like this

I set this up and running and it crashed several times after starting the download.
Might not work with Windows XP?

Deleted that.
Then in reply to a question I put into a forum.
The Main Admin himself says simply
"Have you tried LeechGet?" Sounds a bad name (insult?)...But I checked the Website out
www.leechget.net/en/ links on the left...
Read the blurb. Looked at the screenshots
Theres a lot of them
www.leechget.net/en/phpBB2/gallery.php?mylang=english Ah well, looks Can be deceptive?

I'll give it a try...
Did the Download 2MB
Installed it.Looked for the Basic controls Inputted the URL of the File I was downloading before (same as I was grabbing between the progams above)
And It started...Got to crash?

The Download speed was even faster than DAP7
over 60 KB/s

DAP was 56KB/s and sometime as low as 4 or 5KB/s
Freshget was about 56KB/s and all over the place before crashing

Download time clock was up onto a few thousand Hours to completion

(and rising!)
And this program is freeware for personal use, No Spyware (And is available in many languages)
Tell your friends about this.
Despite its appearance the program is easy to work has lots of Stats to see including what the server is running and what date the file was uploaded

And It also keeps a record on your computer of all the downloads you have done

I think you can use them to reload should you want the file again for some reason
