A work friend was telling me about his young son's abuse of the computer which is routed through his Dad's computer. Dad has XP and his son has Win98. They apparently BOTH have the same IP number, due to this arrangement.
My question is: If his son is getting all kinds of weird downloads and strange things on his computer, due to the sites he visits, why doesn't his Dad get them too??? I asked him and he doesn't seem to know! I told him that I'd ask some smarter people!

Cookies have a user name associated with them. Since his computer is a different one the browser the sites put the cookie on is his and has his screen name on it ( The one for windows, not his ISP account.

Each computer has an electronic serial number Tree, it doesn't matter who owned them they are two separate units and the spam is likely only attached to one. There could be a multitude of other issues, ie, one has Mcaffee and the other doesn't, settings etc..
