Hey guys-

My AOL Security 9.0 Edition clashes at times (O.K., a LOT of the time!) with all my Dell PC's--plus I've been disconected a lot lately..Still waiting on High Speed Internet around here--but am looking at other dial-ups as a new provider/future back-up..Any suggestions? Netscape? NetZero? People PC?

Thanks Roll Eyes

Most internet services have problems of some kind.

Dial-ups are cheap and you get what you pay for. You have to condition yourself to slow page downloads.

DSL is slightly faster, but I don't think it's worth the money (my opinion).

I have broadband, and the signal comes over the cable hookup. It is the fastest I've had in my homes, but it has problems as well. When it's installed, you have to be sure of where you're going to use your computer. Wherever they put the wall jacks, that's where you will hook up. No moving from one phone jack to another.

Another problem that they won't advertise is that broadband is just as prone to heavy traffic as dial-up. In a small college town, broadband could actually be slower than dial-up, and it can also just hang up. This is due to low investment by the cable company and high demand by the folks.

(The college town near me is near a boiling point because of this.)

Check with your neighbors. They can give you the best indication of what works in your location.

Can you get the Clear Wire cable where you are? Clearwire.com this is a "broadband" connection, but is only 1.5b MB. It is faster (by twice) than dialup but slower that most DSL/Cable connections.

If you can get that, it may be a good substitute until high speed broadband reaches your area.
