Reliable bannerless free hosting is getting hard to find and keep these days.
Your best bet is to look to your ISP. A number if ISPs include a small amount of web hosting with your service. (
Earthlink,
Comcast,
ATT, all offer complimentary web hosting) You may have to do some searching, as this kind of service typically isn't heavily advertised.
There are a few banner-free hosts still out there.
Google offers free "
Google Sites". Storage and transfer limit is so ridiculously high that you generally don't have to worry about file sizes. Setting it up is very easy, but you're restricted to using their templates. Not particularly useful in your case.
50webs still offers free banner-free hosting. 60MB of storage, unmetered bandwidth, and 1 incoming-only email account.
If you're willing to shell out a little cash, a lot more options become available.
Mysite (owned by Netzero) offers banner-free hosting for $5/year. You get 50MB of space, 1GB of monthly transfer, but a very restrictive 250kb max file size. (Good enough for basic sites)
To get this plan, go to
Mysite and act like you are registering for a free account... they will first offer you an opportunity to choose a monthly plan, but if you still opt for the free account, they will offer you the super-cheap $5/yr banner-free option.
Doteasy offers a domain (yourowndomain.com) and banner-free hosting for $25/yr. 100MB of space, 1GB of monthly transfer, and 10 POP3 email accounts are included. Choose the "$0 bannerless hosting" offer and they will guide you through the process of buying a domain ($25/yr).
NearlyFreeSpeech.NET offers pay-as-you-go hosting. You put down a deposit of as little as 25 cents, and your monthly charges are deducted from the deposit.
If you use 5MB of space ($0.01/MB-month) and 20MB of transfer ($1/GB, calculated to the penny) in a month, the cost for that month would be 7 cents. A domain is recommended for use with this service, they charge $8.59/yr, but you're allowed to register it elsewhere.
These are just a small sample of what is available. The hosting market is saturated, and theres many deals to be had!
