The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:
Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting).
Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer

they are both run through the same router, an smc barricade 7004VBR. we reset the router at lease once a week (the game we play online times out a lot, and resetting the router is the only way to get it so we can reconnect).

the webpage i am trying to access is http://ffxi-linkshell.com/fotf and everyone else i know that visits can connect with no problems.

I was able to connect to the http://www.ffxi-linkshell.com/fotf/ site with no problem.

I would suggest you delete the Temporary Internet Files , the History and Cookies (deleting cookies will require you to login at sites where you are "remembered").

You can delete these items in the Control Panel --> Internet Options --> General tab.

In the Security tab, set the default values.

If that doesn't solve the problem, in the Internet Options applet, General tab, click the "View Objects" button and see if any items are shown as damaged. If so, right click on the item and choose "update". If it updates correctly, give the page another try.

If it will not update, choose the remove option. Then give the page another try. If the item is needed for the page, you should see a dialog box telling you to download/install a new object. Click yes and download install the object and see if that enables you to open the http://www.ffxi-linkshell.com/fotf/ site.

Good luck with this,

Dwight

And you did delete the Temporary Internet Files, the Cookies and the History? And you reset the Security to the default values?

I suggest you contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) technical support. Sometimes when a site is having problems with a persistent pest, they solve the problem by blocking the entire ISP which means that no one using the ISP can connect with their server. Your ISP support people can attempt to access the http://www.ffxi-linkshell.com/fotf/ and if they cannot, they can contact the system administrator for the "ffxi-link shell.com" server. Usually when this situation occurs they are able to work out a compromise which will enable you to connect again.

If your ISP is able to connect with the site, they may be able to assist you with getting your system set correctly. This service is provided as part of your monthly connection fees.

I hope this helps!

still cant access Mad
after an hour with tech support from my ISP they told me to contact my router tech support.
2 hours later with them the only thing accomplished was finding out i can connect when not through the router, but this is not an option in our house as we have 2 world of warcraft addicts and they wont let me unplug them at all for anything, much the less for a silly gaming community site. Roll Eyes

im not sure what to do now, the router people said all my settings were correct, my firmware was current, etc etc. should i just buy a new router?

we need somebody who knows about Routers
to answer this...I'm not the person

Did you know routers have a built-in Firewall of their own and I'll bet it's the setting of this that is the root of your Troubles. Hence we do need the Make/ Model number (of your router)to find how to remove this barrier

Can you post that, and Somebody experienced can tell you how to configure the router to allow all sites Smile

I have never heard of this make of router

Hence I cannot tell you how to proceed.,...
But I have a current posting on a UK site with a near Identical Issue to yours and
Try this it may get things in order again Smile
1)Disable your routers firewall

2)Check the Windows firewall is disabled also

3)This leaves you with your Normal firewall Yet when you look at the Firewall protection indicator In the Windows security center It shows a Green Light...Can you see any sites Now?

4) If it shows as yellow and some sites are showing then lower the security by 1 level Only! (any change?)

4a) Next switch on the Router fireware again and if all the site vanishes again perhaps the standard setting is far too high for your setup. Therefore I would reduce the setting as low as possible(on the router firewall only!) and see if that changes matters, and Sites start to appear? Very much a case of trial and error

5)Last place to look check the Block lists on All the Firewalls(and the settings) that you have not Blocked regular sites by accident(it happens!)Red Face
This is the Other topic I posted on Offering a solution it shows how the Windows firewall settings are changed, and how to get there too? Smile

See Last 3 postings on that page have to scroll down

It may be a whole bunch easier to just buy a linksys router. One with the latest firmware updates.
