I don't call paying $19.95 a month for unlimited calls US, Canada & Puerto Rico getting free calls. Their cheapest plan was $9.95 for 200 minutes. I pay less than that for more time with SBC. I also see that the service is not available in all areas.

Hey Dorian, when you get to voip.com, click on make a call, or just click on the link below. Also, I have dial up so the free world dialup isn't going to work.
Theres a lot of voip services out there. As far as PC-to-PC calling goes, Skype is king. Unlimited free PC calling, 5-user conferences, as well as webcam support.
You can also use Skype call standard telephone lines, which are charged by the minute, or a flat yearly fee: http://skype.com/products/skypeout/
Another VOIP service is SIPphone. You can make unlimited PC-to-PC calls. No webcam support. Of the voip services, SIP is probably the most "open" network.
SIPphone also useful for dialing networks with SIP telephone setups. (Including a number of universities) Conference calls can be created by dialing a conference number. http://www.sipphone.com/numbers/
Theres several SIP-compatible services, including one from Earthlink.
kinda confusing. so what do you think is the best among those that you just stated? hey celldivision, i cant seem to find the free call at voip.com. how do i do it?

Hi Tasha welcome to answerpool That person hasn't posted since so I'll answer it Look at this price list www.voip.com/voip_plans_rates.aspx and it seems straght forward...You buy a months worth of time in advance and get free unlimited calls to the States/Mexico and discounted calls overseas ...I think you are commited to a contract ...so watch out for this I agree it is worh shopping around Skype might be better value?
quote:
Skype Unlimited – 12 months of unlimited calls to any phone within the US and Canada for just US$29.95.
and calling other Skype uses via the IM progam is totally free regardless ,so if you can get your contacts "Signed" up to Skype too the cost is totally $0 ...I have it and its easy to set up Image quality is excellent with my webcam...a good alternative to AIM or Yahoo Messenger www.skype.com/products/priceoverview/?currency=USD&vat=NO

yeah, i know we should all be careful before signing or paying up for anything. there's nothing wrong with being cautious since what we all want is the best service that we can get, right?
