Well, I found a very strange site that gave this explantion of what the error means. (if you wish to know why I said "strange", click "area 404" at the bottom ).
From what I gather, the error is on the website, not your computer.

thanks, mx2. But nothing that I type in the adress section works. Answerpool.com is my first link in my favroties folder so I never have to type it in. But I type it in to see if it works and the 404 error comes up. But clicking on any of the links in my favorites, work just fine.
Okay! I found something! Beleive it or not, the Microsoft website was HELPFUL!! This has to be the first time I've looked something up there and actually found what I wanted
quote: CAUSE This problem occurs when you add a forward slash to the end of a Web address that is specified as an exception in the proxy server settings. WORKAROUND To work around this problem, delete the forward slash at the end of the Web address in the Exceptions box of the Proxy Settings dialog box: Start Internet Explorer. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Click Connections, click LAN Settings, and then click Advanced. In the Exceptions box, delete the (/) forward slash at the end of the address, and then click OK.
Try this and let me know if it helped.

I'm sorry...some of my cards stepped away for a moment so I don't have a full deck right now.
Click Connections, click LAN Settings, and then click Advanced. In the Exceptions box, delete the (/) forward slash at the end of the address, and then click OK.
I did this but in the exceptions box, there is no address given. What do I do? I am confused.
I don't know. I have DSL, and when I followed those instructions to see if I could replacate your problem, I didn't have an address there either. I'm thinking that is for people who use things like...Earthlink? AOL? I know LAN is large-area network.
Let me try again.
Okay, I found this, which is a "hotfix" to repair the problem in Windows.
You can try that, but I really don't understand the updates (why are they updating it? Shouldn't it already work right??)
