We'll need your system information in order to try to assist you with this. This page may help with gathering the requested information:

Help with system information

Also, would you copy/paste the following 6 questions into your reply, then respond as best you can to each one? The more detail you can provide, the better we can respond.

You can also use the "Quote" button, then edit out the portions of this message that aren't needed.

1) Computer operating system

2) Internet Web browser program you're using and the program version number.

3) Is this all pages that don't work when you click a link? Do some pages open correctly but not others?

4) Can you type or paste in an address and open the same page that wouldn't work via the link?

5) Have you installed any new programs, setup any "popup" blocker programs, etc.

6) Have you checked the Windows Update site for Critical or System updates?

Windows Update

Boy, that wasn't too bright of me, was it? Here your problem is not being able to open links, so what do I do? Provide you with a link to find information! I'm sorry about that.

This is the information about finding your system information. Since you already provided your Web browser program, the only thing needed is your Operating System:

"I will need to know what Make your computer is: Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Gateway, etc.

And what Model it is: HP 8190, or Presario 5600 etc.

I'll also need to know the Operating System (OS) you're running: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 2nd Edition, Windows Millennium Edition (Windows ME), Windows XP (Home Edition or Pro)

You can determine your Operating System by right clicking on the "My Computer" icon (either on the Desktop or in the Start/Programs menu). Then left click on "Properties".

It often is a big help to know what Web browser program you're using: Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Opera, other."
There was a great thread about this very problem. The thread is too long to post here, but I will provide a short URL that you can type in to your Address Bar and read.

Here is a suggestion provided by Murray S on the page:

Try this.. Start > Run > Type in:
regsvr32.exe urlmon.dll
(copy and paste the command if you wish) and press OK.

Wait for the confirmation dialogue and reboot

If nothing there helps, there is another suggested fix in an earlier post by TomGL2. Here is the short URL:

I hope something in these earlier posts will help, but if not please post again and we'll try something different.

Good luck with this!

Dwight

This is the short URL for the link provided by Murray S above:

I thought I should add this, to my response above.

Do you know how to copy/paste an address into the address bar of your Internet Explorer?

Right click on a link, for instance, this one:

Right click on this link.

In the menu that opens, left click on the "Properties" option.

Then, in the Properties window, highlight the page address.

"Highlight" the URL Address by pressing your left mouse button and dragging it across the address. Be sure you've gotten all of the address highlighted, but nothing "extra".

When the address is highlighted, right click on the address and choose the "Copy" option from the right click menu.

Then paste the address into the address bar of your Internet Explorer browser.

Right click into the Address bar, and click on the "Paste" option.

Then click on "Go" or press the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

When the address is pasted into the address bar, click on "Go" or press the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

I hope this helps!

Dwight

Challie:

Your command is wrong.. the command is regsvr32.exe urlmon.dll That is with an "l" NOT an "i" in urlmon.dll
