Hey guys - I want to thank all who have helped with answers. I do follow thru with all the advise (that I'm smart enough to follow).

I installed this little (free) Pop-up stopper and cannot see that it has helped me one bit.

My Avant Browser for some reason doesn't seem to catch the pop-ups that slips in with www.wnd.com

But neither does this new pop-up stopper.

But what it does stop is when my wife uses InterNet Explorer, then Yahoo mail and clicks on the words 'insert addresses' to bring up her address book - - It blocks her address book.

I've went thru all the info I can find and have a letter in to their support team now.

When I ask them about the failure to block the pop-ups on www.wnd.com I got back some info that I couldn't understand.

This thing doesn't seem to have a name other than Pop-up Stopper.

How long should I 'fiddle' with this thing before I dump it? ..... Or is there a 'fix'?

thanks

Try http://www.panicware.com/product_psfree.html

Add to that: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ (look hard there is a free version available on that page).

Once you clean up the spyware and ad-ware, you will find that few sites really produce that many pop-up ads. Most pop-ups happen when one has spyware and ad-ware on their computer.

I know that Panicware pop-up stopper does not stop all things, it will (when active) stop reply boxes and other things from popping up. However mine mostly sits in the tray (by the clock) inactive unless I am going to a known site that produces pop-up and pop-under ads. Then a quick double click and it is on. Sometimes if I am not careful I end up hitting a site that does that, I still can double click to put it on, thus able to stop the ads from popping while I clean up the open windows.

Panicware also allows one to open new windows and such by holding the shift key at the same time you click a target.

I believe that most pop-up stopper software will stop reply boxes and similar from opening and that most have an alternative around that, eg using shift while you click.

Cheers

David
