A red x means that the image is not loaded correctly. It could be due to many factors. The server transmitting the site might be down or experiencing heavy traffic, the image might have been deleted, or you may not have a program to support the loading of the image. There is nothing I know of that you can do from your end to remove the X. . . unless it is a site you have designed and you are the owner of the images. In which case, you need to check your programming - which is out of my field of expertise. Sorry... But hope I was able to answer your question.

Hi David, just a shot in the dark, do you run any popup stoppers? like internet spy hunter/ popup stopper pro, and suchlike if so dissable them, then the red exes might reveal an image. MMMMMMM ...not shure but worth a try.

Hi David I realize the following thread is in reference to IE6 w/Service Pack 1 and Norton's Internet Security 2002 not WinXP. Just thought you might like to try this as the firewall was causing little red boxes in place of pictures on my system as well. I temp. disabled the firewall until the pictures downloaded - it did work for me.

Norton causes the red x's on my computer (when there are certain advertisements, like the one to the left and top of this page). Dwight had mentioned that possibility on another question/answer. The problem I have while using a pop-up stopper is when I click on some sites, I can't get there without disabling pop-up stopper. Holding down the control button and clicking again will temporarily disable pop-up stopper, and I can get to those sites.

We I did contact the Moderator of the Yahoo Group who informed me that this is a constant problem since they had exceeded their storage limitations. Thus you are correct on this one.
I am most certain though, that due to Mr. Bill Gates, everyone who spoke up has the correct answer as well, just not in this case.
