Everytime I open OE the AIM program logs on, even the though the box in general options is not checked. Any suggestions?

I'm not using OE but I think your prob lies in that the settings on OE have AIM set as the "default" Messenger
I'm not familiar with the preferences On OE So
What I say next may or may not work correctly
Need a regular OE users input on this,
This is something to try out
Open OE top of Window frame locate Tools> Options
On the next screen look at the bottom section :"Default Messaging Programs" for 2 buttons which both have the legend "Make default" press both of them, then press the "Apply" button then the "OK" button to save & exit
Does this make any difference?

Thanks for the advice. Problem is neither button is engaged, i.e., they don't work.

Please specify which "AIM" program you're referring too. Microsoft makes an instant messenger program call MSN Messenger. AOL makes one called they call AIM. Is it the AOL AIM you're referring too?

There are many other Instant Messenging programs as well.

I'm not very familiar with AOL's AIM. Have you looked in that program's "Preferences" to see if there is a setting linking the log-on to the default email program?

Select the My AIM menu, click Options, and click Edit Preferences.

I took a look at the AIM Home page but didn't see this particular issue discussed. Maybe you could log on to their chat and ask another user about this. AIM Home Look in the "Community" menu on the left side of the page.
