The word chiropractic has been skewed unfortunately for the past 50 years so when you ask that question, you will recieve different responses. It will depend on the exposure the person has had to chiropractic. A better question would be how long should you have interference to the nerve system before you correct it? Chiropractic is about removing interference to the nerve system so the body can function at its highest level. If you want to be at your highest level of health, you cannot have that without 100% nerve supply to every cell of your body. So if you want to have no nerve pressure in your spine so you can function at 100%, its a good choice to have. If you do not care if your nerve system has interference or not, or worse are not informed that this is going on in your spine, than its not an option for that individual.

after one of my car accidents early last year, I was directed to go to a chiropractor by a friend. Well I went, on the insurances money. I had to go 5 times a week for approximately 6 and a half months. When Insurance started to say they think these visits are outrageous and were gonna cut me off and just write me a check for the balance, all of a sudden the chiropractor said ok i think 3 more visits and you should be healed. Personally I think its bogus, but I really don't care because it didn't come out of my pocket. but my total ammount of visits there including x-rays and such cost the insurance company roughly 8 thousand dollars. He made quite a chunk of change. Chiropractic didn't really work for me, I really don't feel a diffrence, and I was out an extra 8 grand on my $25,000 insurance check from my auto accident.

I have been in at least four car accidents and each time, there was a little more damage done to my back and neck. I have to say the chiropractor has really helped me out and if the insurance did not cover it, he would just charge me $20 a visit. The reason I started going to him were sciatic nerve(s) were pinched in a major way. That's where your nerve endings go down your the small of your back and go out of the sockets for your legs.I had been to so many doctors to get tests and they just said to take anti-inflammotory meds. I was to the point where I had shooting pain down both legs, miserable. The chiropractor took xrays, which all of them do, if they don't then there's something wrong. I have no pain in the legs now. The last accident, I couldn't hold my chin up, it was horrible. My doctor was very gentle and worked with me, making sure not to even think about doing anything on my back until the inflamation went down. I really think I got lucky for this chiropractor in general. But you have to be able to relax, don't be tense, that's important.

I fell at work and felt fine. I told the manager about it and he wrote an incident report.
The next morning, I was unable to move. After A LOT of help from my mom, I was able to get up and get dressed (barely) and I had to drive to school (I commuted each weekend to go home). I stopped of at the Chiropractor on the way home, and I was never in so much pain in my life.
He adjusted my back, my sciatic nerve was being pinched. Work paid for the visits, and I went to about 10 visits. Chiropractic made me able to walk, to function. As soon as my back was adjusted that next morning I felt 100% better. And over the next visits, my back improved until I was back to normal.
For me, Chiropractic worked.
