Well guys, I figured it out!

With a mixture of pure filtered beeswax and cold-pressed virgin olive oil, I got my ointment!

The only problem is, I let my mother and sister try it out and they want it for a LOTION! They both have severe dry skin and they say it's the best thing they've ever used. I filled up two salsa jars for them and they STILL want more! Sheesh! I'm considering maybe marketing the stuff?

Here's what I ended up with...

As you can see it's pretty thick. I'm making up a new batch tonight and I'll try to keep track of exact measurments if anyone wants a recipe!

Kat - If you do decide to market it as a dry-skin lotion, let me know!
I'm sure a lot of us here would be interested in that!
With warm weather here, it won't be much of a problem for a while; but when it gets cold again, I'll be desperate for something to alleviate the itchy, cracked skin!

PS - How do you think it would work as a deep conditioner for very dry hair? Or maybe a pre-shampoo treatment?

Wow! Do you guys really think I could sell it online? I took it to a lady who owns an herb shop today and she was excited about it and is interested in consigning it in her shop. The thing is, I could do SO much more with it than what it is right now. In a few months, when I can harvest some herbs I'll have some GREAT stuff....Like calendula lotion, which would be WONDEFUL on chapped, cracked, or chafed skin.

Oh and TIE, the stuff above would NOT be good on hair. The reason is because there is wax in it. It WOULD coat your hair and make it shiny at first, but a hairdresser told me that it would keep oxygen from getting to it and eventually it would start to break off. ALTHOUGH, an infused oil of with Rosemary and Yarrow is GREAT for hair. It's something else I make for my sister and myself because we're always dying our hair freaky colors an it really helps keep it shiny. I also give it that same oil as a care-gift to my friends who have to go through chemo because some say it helps hair grow BACK. I can't confirm that through personal experiance.

OK, wellllll I'll make a deal with anyone here.

I've been searching for a place online that will sell cosmetic jars to me for a reasonable price and I haven't found ANYTHING. EVERY site I find is either WAY too expensive, or requires you to have a wholesaler's tax number, which I don't.

If ANYONE can find me a place (other than ebay) where I can buy empty cosmetic jars for $1.00 or less per jar, that does NOT require you to be a wholesaler I will send you a HUGE jar of my lotion or hair treatment FREE!

huh? huh? any takers? I need some helpppp!

I found a site, at the bottom (almost) on the left seems to be a clear plastic jar tht does not have a limit to the number that can be purhcased. Actually saw quite a few nice jars really.

Ohhhh Sher! I saw that site too when I first started looking, but the little containers on the home page have limits on them! I trusted you tho, and delved more into the site, and voila! Exactly what I needed!

Thanks Sher!

Ok, well just e-mail your address if you want and I'll send you the product of your choice. I make all of these with my own herbs, essential oils and stuff.

Lotion
Hair Treatment
Bath Oil
Massage Oil
Bath Salts

I know that's more than what I originally offered, but I realized that unless you have dry skin, the lotion won't really appeal to you.

Oh, but if you're worried I'm a weird internet psycho axe-murderer and don't want to send me your address, I'll understand. Smile

Thanks for the help, Sher.

Hey Sher...you said you were interested in getting some too. I found this site:

http://www.azuregreen.biz/products.php?productline=195

The jars are more expensive there than on the one you gave me, but the droppers are a lot cheaper....go figure...

Sounds like your "lotion" meets the criteria to qualify for a Utility Patent. I'd suggest you file for "Provisional Patent" status. It's really fairly easy, only costs about 50 bucks and you'll have Patent protection for 1 year from the date of filing. You can then legally add "Patent Pending" to the labels and ad references to the product.

Just a suggestion,

Good Luck!

Cool.. I was wondering if they'd be cheap or reasonably attractive.
