because my potassium is very very low, the doctor took me off lasix for a few days and changed the dosage of potassium. Now I'm trying to stay away from salt but I am starting to swell up. I have to wait until Monday to get tested again. Is tea or coffee a natural diuretic or can you give me a suggestion for the weekend?

caffiene is a diuretic, also celery (also sold in capsule form) BUT if the doctor took you off of a diuretic natural or not you should just wait until your test results, being too low on potassium can be dangerous. Follow his orders or call him and ask if it's okay to try a natural product. Try drinking plenty of water, it may sound counter productive, but having your system well hydrated will keep the swelling down and your body needs to adjust itself to being off meds.

Thanks Kittypal. I had forgotten about drinking MORE water then normal. I did that and drank a couple of extra cups of coffee. It of course didn't make all the swelling go away but kept it under control this weekend. I go in tomorrow morning and hopefully my potassium will be up from the 2.8 to at least 3.5. That would be nice.
