Hi and welcome to AnswerPool HeartMath Freeze-Framer is an interactive software program (not available for Macintosh)with finger-tip sensor and is used as a form of bio-feedback. It was designed to help people monitor their heart rates and to teach them how to manage the effects of stress. It has proven to be effective in helping those with Congestive Heart Failure. A clinical study from the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention was published in 2002 in the Preventive Cardiology Journal. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of stress management training on quality of life, functional capacity, and heart rate variability in elderly patients with New York Heart Association class I–III congestive heart failure (CHF). The findings show that there were significant improvements in perceived stress, emotional distress, 6-minute walk, and depression, and positive trends were noted in each of the other psychosocial measures. Complete research paper can be found here but registration is required and paper is in Adobe Acrobat. The HeartMath technique has also been known to help people with atrial fibrillation but there are no research papers that shows the HeartMath Technique can be used for weight loss or that any studies have even been done.
