posted 07-06-02 10:21 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Something safe that you could try for metabolism is chromium picolinate, and supplement it with potassium, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. I take care of a man who weighs 500 pounds. He is diabetic, high blood pressure, heart problems, and rheumatoid arthritis. These that I mentioned to you have helped him take off 50 pounds, and helped ward off additional weight gain when he is unable to get up. Remember that these are only suggestions, and you might want to ask your doctor. One side effect to chromium picolinate is frequent bowel movement. (your metabolism will speed up) You may have a little cramping at first until your body adjusts) BTW these are the main ingredients in Metabolife. Save some money and buy the cheap over the counter vitamins for nearly the same results.
I asked a similar question in another post/category. I am trying it now, but it has only been a week. If you try it, lets compare results. This answer was given by another member, angela cc.

I too asked a similar question in nutrition. CLR is supposed to prevent fat from being deposited in the cells and increases metabolism. Chromium Picolinate (chromax)is supposed to help metabolize fats and carbs and respond efficiently to insulin. I was asking if they really worked. I'm trying to lose 10 pounds. I'm gonna start taking them tomorrow.(I keep saying I'm gonna start taking them but I bought them and I haven't taken them yet) I would love to compare results. Lets say in one month. September 1 we could see where we are at. Anyone interested? LVLF?

I am currently taking metabolite very carefully... 1/3 less than the suggested amount. I am eating a healthy nutritional diet, trying to be moderately active. I would not mind participating in a weight loss support as I am attempting to lose for a cruise this January. I have lost about 10 pounds so far, but I am making my eating habits a permanent change NOT a diet.

Okay, fine. But I suppose that means I have to eat right and exercise. Two things I hate. But, okay, now I really have an incentive. I don't own a scale--I threw it out years ago, but I do still own pants that I grew out of in the last year-- I suppose I can keep trying to squeeze into them to see if it is getting any easier. Your on! Wait, just one more donut. Okay, now!! P.s. What is CLR? Why are the posts here being put in such a goofy order? I posted after Clarebear but it is placed before her question.
