My husband has been taking glucosamine with chondroitin for about 4 months now 3 times a day for joint pain, at first it was working really well but now it does not seem to be as effective, any suggestions. Thanks
It's odd for these supplements to show quick results. They are basic joint building materials and rarely are results visible earlier than 6 weeks. The problem is most likely either poor digestive absorbtion, or poor cellular absorbtion.
To try to promote cellular absorbtion make sure you're getting a broad band multimineral supplement that includes a wide range of trace minerals. Make sure that the minerals are at least in "chelated" form.
To increase digestive absorbtion - don't take the supplements on an empty stomach and consider changing brands. You may even want to try "Knox" drinking gelitan. It's very similar to the G&C that you've been taking, very absorbable, probably cheaper, and tastier.
