It is possible to predict the number of visits per child by the average number of teeth per child.

HOWEVER! If a child loses more than one tooth at a time, this could tip the scales. If visits cease before the child loses all of their baby teeth, this could tip the scales. If a child has emergency dental work and has teeth taken out (when the dentist would dispose of them) this could tip the scales. Too many variables...

The maximum number would be 12 because that is the normal number of deciduous teeth, 8 incisors and 4 canines, the molars are not shed.

Sam, where did you get that information ? What is the reasoning ? IfMiles stated the facts correctly, an answer of 20 makes no sense, unless the Fairy stopped in for Dinner a few times.

http://www.kids.cyh.com/cyh/kids/detail.html?topic_id=1503&l1=2Humans are diphyodont, meaning that they develop two sets of teeth. The first set of 20 deciduous teeth are also called the milk, primary, temporary, falling-off, or baby teeth. They begin to develop before birth and fall out when a child is around 6 years old. They are replaced by a set of 32 permanent teeth, which are also called secondary or adult teeth. http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/body_basics/mouth_teeth_p2.html

And if you doubts the kid's health sites, the American Dental Association backs up samantha as well. Their site shows the ages that 20 teeth fall out (usually between 6 and 12 years old)
