How many years would it take the earth to replenish a completely destroyed ozone layer?

That's a real good one Sam, and I can only guess on this one.Since no one dared so far to answer, and I couldn't find any sites that really answered it .My guess would be about 150 years.I long to see anyone else's answer, especially yours!

Well, Mozart the answer here is one year. This was a very difficult question.

Samantha, I do not doubt that you are giving an accurate answer, but, could you provide the source? There are so many variables involved I would be interested in seeing how an answer such as yours is derived. Thanks in advance!

well, I am going to retract this question. I was trying to find the site and thought I had saved it and I can't find it now. Really the answer I had given does not make alot of sense even to me. So I do aplolgize on this one and if I do find it I will place it on here. Sorry for any inconvience...I'm not right ALL the time... wink

I don't know whether one year is the correct answer, but the ozone layer would actually replenish itself very quickly. The only problem is that first you have to get rid of all of the things degrading it, which would take a long time.

I bet you would. I was sure I had that site booked marked but, I can't find it. They were saying how quickly it would do that.

I agree with Methos5000, and the bad stuff can hang there over 100 years if left alone and since the rest is a chimical reaction, my answer was really a bet of 50 years not knowing how quick exactly that replenishing (all around the planet)would need time!
