This is not a question, but a posting of an article on what may be the new answer to "What is the earliest audio recording?"

French recording may be world's first

Answers to questions really don't change. Our knowledge base with which to answer them does! Remember the old question, "What was the highest mountain on earth before Mt. Everest was discovered?"

Wow! we can hardly hear the words , but I recognize them. From your source: Audio of the "Au Clair de la Lune" recording: http://www.firstsounds.org/sounds/

"Au clair de la lune mon ami Pierrot"

Good finding Coldfuse. It was made on April 9/ 1860 according to this source 148 years ago.
