Are you talking about a Fluid Catalytic Cracking unit? If so, don't they have something to do with oil refinery and gas production?

That is the correct answer
It is a tall tube about the height of a 3 storey house, raw crude oil is injected at the top and steam added various pipes take the byproducts elsewhere the top pipes take the lighter fuel petrol down to the base of the tower where bitumen (Heavier byproducts) is drawn off.
