What single state contains both the highest and lowest points in the continental United States- only 100 miles apart?

The lowest point is death valley in California. But the highest elevation in claifornia that I can find is Mt. Whitney - 14,494. But Mount Whitney is not the highest point in the US. The highest is Mt. McKinley 20,320 in alaska, but since Alaska is not in continental US, the highest is mount Whitney and california is the winner. Second place winner is Colorado for highest point. Only 61 feet behind. Wonder what a million years will do?

Alaska IS part of the continental United States, being part of the North American continent. It is not part of the contiguous states.

(Sorry, but I live in Alaska and all the time try to order stuff that says it ships to the "continental US only", only to find it doesn't ship to Alaska and they meant "contiguous". It's kind of a pet peeve Smile)
