Source he performed the first successful caesarean section in the British empire,Barry was the first woman to receive a university medical degree.

I wonder if her child survived and if that child could have provided information about his mother.

Knowing how difficult it was for women to get degrees much less respect as actual working physicians, I can't blame her if she had nothing to lose to do this.
