Galileo was the first spacecraft to visit Jupiter in 1995, and although I'm sure it encountered high winds in Jupiter's upper atmosphere, it didn't find any rings...The high winds and storms create a "banded" appearance, but there are no rings.
Now, if you're talking Saturn, the Pioneer 11 was the first probe to fly by in 1979.

The website I researched this on had absolutely no information like this. In fact, is specifically mentioned that the "bands" of weather related phenomena caused ancient astronomers to believe there were rings.
I'm red-faced, believe me, and thank you for the new information!
