LIMA, Peru (Reuters) - Ricardo Cerron is fed up with people staring or even laughing at his baby, dubbed Peru's "Little Mermaid" because of a rare birth defect in which her legs are joined together.
Cerron, a 24-year-old mechanic, was so desperate when his daughter was born with "mermaid syndrome" -- a condition called sirenomelia, which is nearly almost fatal -- that he appeared on television to appeal for help.
