Where did the inventor of the "Ant Farm" find his inspiration for the farm ?

I can't find out WHAT inspired Uncle Milton Levine to make the first Ant Farm, but the idea came to him at a 4th of July family barbeue in 1956. Several sites mentioned that; here is one.
