Just a possibility: I get similar requests to type in my password, that it is not correct, etc. My problem is that I have, at some point in time, opted to change my password every 72 days - for security purposes. Naturally when the time expires, the present password expires. Is it possible you may have done the same thing?

Have you deleted your cookies recently?

I'd bet that you either forgot your password, or how it was spelled, and you had been relying on your browser to remember it.
(via the cookie).

Then your cookies were deleted and now the browser wants you to re-type it.

Try it both with and without the caps lock on. If all else fails have hotmail reset it.

I'm having the same problems. First of all I have hotmail set to remember e-mail address and password (as I am the only one who uses my computer at home) but every day for the past week everytime I go to hotmail I am prompted to enter a password even tho the check box is still selected to remember password. On one occasion got an error that the password was incorrect. When I set up the account many years ago, a password had to be a 4 digit number...so even if I had the cap lock on it wouldn't affect my password. I knew I had typed it correctly so just went back and entered it again and the second time it took. I'm still having to enter a password every time I log in tho.

P.S. Kendor, I have not deleted my cookies...I'm saving them for Santa! Wink

Please see this Microsoft page to see if provides any help: Click Here.

If this doesn't solve the problem, then deleting the cookies maybe necessary.

Delete cookies by opening your Control Panel and clicking on "Internet Options". See the
Delete" button under Temporary Internet Files. I suggest you click that one, the the "delete cookies" button.

Then try your password at Hotmail again.

So it would appear then, Dwight, that Hotmail has changed it's password platform to now accept passwords between 8 and 12 characters. When I set up my account it was probably about 10 years ago and as I mentioned earlier, Hotmail required a 4 digit password. So maybe they have phased that out. My 4 digit password still works, I just have to enter it every time I log in. Don't know how willing I am to change it at this time. 8 characters is an awful lot for me to remember in my old age!
