I hope that someone out there can help me. I use to be able to copy and paste things from my yahoo email to Word 2003 with no problems at all. Now when I try to copy and paste anything from email I get this message: Microsoft Office Word has encounted a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenince. I click send error message and it restarts word and I try again and it does the same thing. I can copy and paste from other things but not yahoo email. Is the problem with yahoo? I emailed them and still waiting for an answer all the say are we are lookin into the problem or is it Microsoft problem? This is driving me crazy and I really need to be able to copy and paste from email. I ahve been trying to fix thids problem for over a month with no luck. HELP SOMEONE ASAP! Thanks alot. Confused

Welcome to AnswerPool petieblueeyes Smile

I have problems copying anything from my Yahoo e-mails. I didn't get the error message, but it just refused to copy in the normal way.

I have found that if I copy by highlighting the text required and then pressing Ctlr + C (an alternative way of copying) it does work.

If this doesn't work for you, please do post again in this thread.

Are you pasting into a blank document? Try removing the email format before pasting. To do that, open *Notepad and paste the email contents in that first. Then copy / paste the contents of Notepad into Word. Doing it this removes the HTML formatting from the item so that when you paste it into Word, it is just text.

If there are images that you wish to include with the text, try copying the images separately from text, then pasting them into Word in the appropriate place.

Another thing you can try if the problem persists, or if this seems like it is too much trouble.
1) Close Word
2) Do a search for the file "normal.dot" (don't use the quotes in the search box).
3) When you find the file (you may find more than one) delete them all
4) Open Word

Word will automatically recreate the normal.dot file and doing this may resolve the HTML formatted paste problem.

More about normal.dot
*Notepad is found at:
Start --> All Programs --> Accessories -->

Agree strongly with you Dwight copying and pasting emails across into other email services often take live links over Ok in the "Body" of the Message but in the Headers can really muck things up if they are posted on "as is" So the safes way is to save to Notepad or New Text document and trim the superflous "Header" links off
Nothing look untidier than a forwarded email with a zillion live useless links Edit it Down like you would a forum reply find it works just as good Smile
