I have had an Email account with Yahoo since I started surfing.I'm happy with it and can operate all the controls for Spam,yet recently I have noticed in the Bulkmail box the number of Spammy postings are starting to Increase sharply
The other day it was 280 Bulkmail and 8 Mail(which was Spam(reported)) and everything deleted mailbox showing 32% full
Contrast this with before the New Year about 30 Bulk and 20 Mail (6%)
I log on at least every fortnight and clear the Boxes I have no contact with any of those sites I'm not going to unsubscribe (For giving a "Heads-Up" for more of the same )
Has there been a failure of the servers controls?
Bar opening a New A/c with Yahoo Can anyone suggest How this Mountain is growing exponentially? And is it possible to close the mail box without losing the Yahoo screenname?
Current total is 62 bulk 3 mail (8%) after 2 days

PS My main AOL addy where I get all the site notifications ( off 5 sites including this one) is running about 40 per day and about a dozen Spam on average (and the Spam is well down) Parental Controls are set with a "Custom Block" and really bad stuff goes onto a block list and I have a "forbidden" word list active as well
I think it's working well unlike Yahoos
If the new Gmail https://gmail.google.com which is on test now, shows promise. I may transfer all my Notifications over to there ?(Has 1 GB box size)

Jettison the junk mail pod Scotty!

Have the same problem with hotmail. I was running about 5 in junk and in the last couple weeks it has ballooned to 25 or 30 a day. Never click on their crap either. Blocking addresses is worthless since they generate them by the zillions.

Also when I last had to upgrade hotmail it now opens with a very short horizontal bar at the bottom. Could moving this be sending a signal to Bill triggering junk mail based on the ads right side of the screen?

Is it possible to block based on words in the subject line? I occasionally find a real mail in the junk bin so I don't want to automatically vaporize all that goes there. I don't see where Google will be any different unless they have better filters.

What do businesses do to avoid all this spam?

Have tweaked the controls again ..and Yahoo have updated the spam controls the Bulkmail is not counting in the e-mail numbers Have 5 in Inbox and 178 in Bulk registering about 3% since about 5 days ago. Yahoo are trying but are not succeeding I really think they should have an AOL-like Parental Controls Panel not billions of rules to stem this tide
