To Dwight:

When I installed IE6setup, the Outlook Exptress came bundled with it. I have been trying to use it ever since I installed IEXsetup.

When I go to Outlook Express\Tools\Accounts & set up my account for pop3.email.msn.com & smtp.email.msn.com, I always get a message on the screen that they reject my User Name & Password.

I have had the same UserName & Password since I came on the Network in 1985.

I have since cancelled my Hotmail account, since I know that I can get into Hotmail any time I want. However, I can not seem to communicate with my kids with Hotmail.

My Prime concern is that I do not seem to be able to communicate with my children with Outlook Express.

I have got a whole slew of data from MSN regards to E-Mail, but none of it seems to do anything for me to get mail to my kids.

In Outlook Express I have the default set for
the account pop3.email.msn.com.

I am aware of the Internet Options applet in the Control Panel & the Internet Explorer/Tools/Internet Options/Program. However, I set my E-mail up in the Outlook Express window under Tools/Account/Properties/Servers

As I understand it, you cannot use Outlook Express to get your MSN mail in POP3 (Post Office Protocol) anymore. It used to be accessible, but now is not.

You can use Outlook Express to access your MSN mail in HTTP server format.

I cannot locate the correct address for MSN mail in Outlook Express. You can contact MSN support and I'm sure they will direct to the http address.

Dwight is correct. Perhaps, when you went to add your MSN email account to OE, you chose POP3 instead of HTTP.

I don't have MSN, but I access my Hotmail through OE and it's accessed via HTTP. I don't know if this helps, but I DO have the server URL, at least, for my Hotmail access.

I just emailed it to you. See if it works. When I originally added my Hotmail accounts, the server URL appeared automatically.

Switch your incoming server choice to HTTP; you'll get another drop down box which asks if you have Hotmail or MSN...you should get the correct one.

After a great deal of searching, I found this information from Microsoft about setting up your MSN email account in Outlook Express.

Adding an e-mail account to Outlook Express

To create a new account

1) In Outlook Express, from the Tools menu, click Accounts.

2) In the Accounts dialog box, click the Mail tab.

3) Click Add, and then choose Mail.

4) In the Name text box, type the name you want to appear on your e-mail messages.

5) Click I already have an email address that I'd like to use then type in your MSN address (yourname@msn.com).

6) Add the following settings:
For My incoming mail server is choose HTTP.

Type your Account Name and Password.

Select the Logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) checkbox.
7) Click Finish.

8) Click your newly created account, then click Properties.

9) In the Properties dialog box, click the Servers tab.

10) Under Outgoing Mail Server, select the Server requires authentication checkbox.

11) Click Apply, then click OK.

Dwight & Sonnet26

I did not know that Post Office Protocol (POP) had been discontinued.

I now have my server set up with HTTP.

It is now working as it should & I can communicate with my Kids.

Thanks a bunch.
