Apparently, there's a way to save your email to a folder on your hard drive, without the need of copying and pasting.

Anyone know how it's done?

Thank you! Smile

You didn't mention what program you're using to access your email. If it is Outlook Express, just open the message you want to save and click the File menu, Save As command.

If your e-mail is web-based such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc all you have to do is go to File in your browser menu and do a "Save As" then select whether you want to save if as a text file or a web page.

Duh! Yes Dwight, I use Outlook Express. I created a new file named "email" and saved one there. It worked perfectly. Now, I just want to know if there's a way to select several at a time to save to this new file....? Razz

Thank you too, Georgia.

Dwight, correct me if I'm wrong but can't you set up Outlook to autoarchive all your messages to your hard-drive? We do that at work. Or is that only possible if you are going through a network?

And you are welcome Tree. Dwight and I apparently started posting at the same time but he just finished before me. He covered Outlook, I covered web-based. Thought that was kinda funny. Smile

Outlook does the auto-archive, but Outlook Express does not. There is a way (in Outlook Express) to save your messages into a backup file (Tools/Maintenance/Store Folder button), but the link provided by Bazcaz is better, I think.

Tree, to the best of my knowledge, messages would have to be saved one-by-one.

Tree & to all of you who are interested:

I drag all of my e-mail messages from the
E-Mail folder to a new folder that I generate on my Desktoo.

Then I rename the folder to a name of my choice. Been doing this for some time.

VERY interesting, donald! Thank you for that! I like it! Wink

Dwight, your method worked just fine for me last night, but when I tried it at work today (on our network) I wasn't as successful! I have NT at work, if it makes a difference! Frown

Sorry, but not being able to edit my post forces me to add on....

The suggestions from Dwight and Donald are GREAT! They work perfectly on my home computer!

The problem is - we need a way to do this at my work - to try to save emails to a shared drive. Don't ask me why! It seems easier to merely forward the email, but for some reason, they want to to implement this new method!

If you have any ideas, please let me know.

AND - thank you all again! Smile

Tree:

Talk to your Network Administrator at work. He surely will know a method that can be used to store your E-Mails wherever you want.

Thanks, Don! I'll ask him.

I wanted to steal some knowledge in this forum and THEN pretend that I was sooooo brilliant!

Tree:

We all need a little help when it comes to intelligence.

I learned a long time ago that:

The only dumb questions were those that were never asked.

When you ask the question of your Network Administrator, then the next time you will have the answer yourself.

That is, provided that you collect all these pieces of data in your little collection tray, so that you have it the next time you need it.
