In the full email server program of Outlook, yes.. I use that option at work all the time.
In the Outlook Express version, there isn't that option that I can find.

Ok, I will try to. I might have to type myself an email at work tonight explaining it as I do it at work, but I will try here and now (I am at home). If I have to do that I will add that on to this thread with the specifics. Someone else might have answered your question before then if I have to do that. LOL I haven't tried to set it for every message I type, but I do it for some of them and customize what I do for each message as I need to do it. I actually just experimented with what all the various options were, looking at each category and seeing what they all did. When you type a new message, there is an "option" to simply get notification when they recieve it in their box, when they open it, to have to respond somehow (if you ask them to respond) that sort of thing. It is a graduated increase in response you might say. There are various icons across the top of your screen, one of which is an 'options' icon. (I can't recall what it looks like right off hand). You will then get a little pop-up box with a menu asking what you wnt to do. That is where you choose which thing you want to do. I can't be more specific, truely I am sorry. I will have to email myself the data from work and add on to this thread after I am done working tonight.

Tree,Unless you've installed your Outlook in the Corporate/Workgroup mode, you cannot get a Delivery Notification. The details are listed below, see the Microsoft page at more details. Please note, this is for Outlook 2000. There are many different versions of Outlook, so this may not be the correct one for your installation. To find you version, click on "Help" and then "About Outlook". Requesting Delivery Receipts To request delivery receipts for messages you send to others, you must have installed Outlook in the Corporate/Workgroup (CW) mode, and you must be using Microsoft Exchange Server as your mail service. You can request delivery receipts on either a per message basis or for all messages you send.
To request a delivery receipt for a specific message, follow these steps:
1. On the View menu of the message, click Options. 2. Under Voting and Tracking options, click to select "Request a delivery receipt for this message" and click Close. To request delivery receipts on all messages you send, follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options. 2. On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options and then click Tracking Options. 3. Click to select "Request a delivery receipt for all messages I send" and click OK. Dwight

Kendor, I know what you mean by people being offended. I hardly EVER send a receipt that I've read an email and simply say "no".
My question is - can I get notified that a person has actually opened my email? No receipt required. Is this possible? I don't want to do this for all of my emails, but once in a blue moon it's pretty important to know if they have actually read it.
If your email program supports HTML email, you might be able to sneak a web counter into the code of the email. (+10 sneaky evil points!) Aside from a return receipt (mentioned above by others), thats about it for basic email tracking.
