I am having problems trasferring jpeg pictures from Outlook Express to My Pictures- for resizing before using them for a website. Please can you help?
Also I've received some very large email photos which I think are using up too much space on my laptop. How does the sender send them in the correct size? Only part of the photos were visible on the screen. They needed to be about one third of the size received.
Thankyou for your help.

Question: I am having problems transferring jpeg pictures from Outlook Express to My Pictures...

One Answer: Right click on the attached picture file and choose "Save As". Give the image a filename with the extension ".jpg". Save the picture to your "My Pictures" folder. (example: picture.jpg)

Question: ...for resizing before using them for a website.

One Answer: You can open the image file that you saved in the "My Pictures" folder in your favorite image editor program and resize the image. My favorite image editor program is "IrfanView" which is available free of charge via download from http://irfanview.com If you want to view a download / install tutorial, click here. This page has few tutorials about IrfanView features, done as Web pages and slide shows.

Question: Only part of the photos were visible on the screen. They needed to be about one third of the size received.

One Answer: If the image file is open in IrfanView, pressing the "Enter" key on your keyboard will automatically resize the image for viewing on your monitor. When ready to go back and edit the image file, press the Enter key again.

Question: How does the sender send them in the correct size?

One Answer: Using Outlook Express as your email editor, the easiest way that I know of to send an image in a workable size is to follow this procedure: (This assumes Outlook Express is your default mail handler - **more about this later).

1) Go to the saved picture file; often this will be in the "My Pictures" folder.
2) Right-click on the image file that you wish to send.
3) In the right-click menu, select "Send To --> Mail Recipient
4) A dialog box will asking if you wish to reduce the image size for mailing. Click Yes
5) Address and send the image. You can add a text message to the New Mail message window if you like.
6) To send more than one image file at a time, use the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard while selecting your images. Select one image file, then press and hold the Ctrl key while you select one or more others to add. Once all are selected, release the Ctrl key.

If the "See this picture" link above is too small to read, use the Windows Internet Explorer version 7.0 resize tool as shown.

If you're using Internet Explorer version 6.0

Note: If the image is to small to read, click the Image Resize Tool bar. This link will show you what it looks like. Hover your cursor near the bottom right corner of the image to get the Image Resize Tool bar to come into view.

* I say "one answer" because with Windows, there always seems to be 3 or 4 different ways to do the same thing. I have provided only my preferred method for doing the questioned item.

** Default Mail Handler means the program that is set in the Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Programs tab --> Email

Set Outlook Express if that is your preference.
