I've been receiving some junk emails that are pretty weird. The subject starts out "$250 Gas Card" from someone @completemeans.com. Then the body of the email is typically a religious story--today's was about Moses. I tried to google completemeans and found that it mentions a "domain blacklist". Does this mean that I am receiving religious spam? If I asked to be unsubscribed does that even generated more spam?

I don't think you will get more e-mails,Kelley, they already have you in their database. SmileThey are offering you to opt-out from their mailing list.I put mine in there and, although I had not received anything yet(like you did): if it would have been a catch, I would have got something already, but got nothing.

kelly,
Unsubscribing nearly always exposes you to more spam, so I wouldnt recommend doing that. most likely, that email is just what it looks like, junk meant to jam up the net with meaningless emails. What email program are you receiving this in? In yahoo, you can report it as spam, and it will go into your junk folder from then on. As far as Hotmail goes, it should be sent to your junk folder anyway. If it doesnt, there should be an option to send it there. Personally, when I see a subject similar to that, I simply delete it. Good luck!

I agree that unsubscribing is a HUGE mistake. Right now, they don't know you have a valid email. They bulk send mail to names that are all similiar hoping to get someone to respond. For instance if you are at yahoo, they will try the first part Kelleygirl, Kelleygirrl, Kelleygirl1, Kelleygirl22 or Kelleygirl4u. You can look at the headers of some of the emails and actually see all the people they are sending the mail to. I would suggest using your email filter and having mail with certain words in the subject line or in the message go straight into the trash. The minute you unsubscribe, you have confirmed they have a valid email which they can use and sell to others.

Thanks, Mozart, Chris, and Clare! I really appreciate your help; I'm still playing "catchup" on the computer and its use therein. I have hesitated to "unsubscribe" to more than one of these types of email -- just wanted and got your opinion.
