This is a Handy thing to know and you won't lose anything in an outage unless there is a major Google server outage (about the same odds as winning the Lottery)

You start typing composing an email and do not save it for editing later and the computer crashes means you have to start from scratch again! Mad

But Gmail has a neat feature you start typing and there is a save button to save to the Google server not a local file(Very good if your computer packs up) Smile
But say you continue on without clicking that button and the computer goes down or the Link goes down? End of email?....Log back into Gmail and Click on "Draft" link,in the Left column( in RED ink) May be on the List too? With the header to your posting open it up and you'll find that it has been autosaved every 1 Minute you have been typing
So all you have to do is Tidy it up and Spell check it Cool ...In About 34 different languages! Smile(Default setting is AUTO) PS Maybe there are more as the menu box goes off the screen...

Important thing to do when you Start or reopen the Email. click the grey Save button to start the Autosave feature Is duplicated find above and Below the email window Smile

Edit clarifying the arrangment...
quote:
Worked it out now
When you start composing your email, press "save" to start the "Autosave" routine. When on return later you needn't touch this the process carries on Automatically And you can always override the autosave clock by pressing the save button if its not greyed out(for a short time afer it autosaves)
PS Google should rename the key "Autosave" or "Save-Start" on a later update as thats what it does Smile

Bedstor, I have never used Gmail, don't know a thing about it, but I'm having so many problems with my MSN mail I'd like to check into it. I guess I can find it on the google site...?

If that autosave thing works, that would be great. I also have a "draft" folder but if your machine crashes, there won't be anything in there.

Thanks for the info, you are a Prince!

Catty
You will find the "Compose Mail" link below the Google Mail banner in the UK (or G-Mail banner everywhere else) and above the Inbox

And you'll like this feature If you keep replying to the same contact the Gogle server tries to group thing together automatically ...and if you make a label for your work ,contact or whatever that is given higher priority as is Starring a post Ok?
So you end up with an organised mailbox Smile

Ps They are still shuffling things about, only minor stuff but they are getting there Wink

BTW Have you browsesd this link? It show you a lot of the Features of the Program

Catty I've always been quite pleased with Yahoo mail. Yahoo doesn't work well on some people's systems, but it works for me (XP), and I really like their recent upgrade.
