I keep getting porno emails in my email box with no option to UNSUBSCRIBE. I can't tell from who or where they are originating. How can I stop them from sending these into my box. I get 6-10 per day. Is there some way I can stop them instead of having to delete these every single day. Thanks.

Hi Razielinski. Welcome to AnswerPool.

I think the answer to your problem is in your question. You are looking to UNSUBSCRIBE which leads me to believe that you have done that before. Many times sites send spam not knowing if the address is real or not. Once they know the account is live (when you acknowledge it by sending them a response), they can sell the address. If you go in the preference of your email account, you should have an option category. This is where you can place filters on certain mail coming in. You can have mail with key words go directly to your junk folder. You may also be able to mark each one as "spam" so your email program can filter them out int he future. There are many different options to choose from depending on the email program you use. In the future, NEVER unsubscribe to anything.

Your system is very likely infected with some type of Spyware Browser Hijacker. Click here to have a simple test run on your system. This cannot find every problem, but it will find the most common ones.

I'm going to assume that you will need to go further to solve your problem. There are three Anti-spyware utility programs that I like very much. They are effective and free of charge. To read about these (Spybots, Ad-Aware and most especially SpywareBlaster), go to my page at http://dwightblackburn.com#spyware

If you need assistance with how to run these programs, please post again. The SpywareBlaster is a prevention tool. It recognizes known threats and prevents them from running. The other two are detection/removal tools. They find and then remove known problem files.

And make sure your Windows Operating System has the latest updates. If you are setup to update automatically, you can click the Start menu / All Programs / Window Update (or Microsoft Update). Download and install all updates.

A note about Automatic Updates: Some virus/spyware will disable your auto updates functions so it would be a good idea to manually run the update process to be sure you're actually getting all the new updates.

You should also run a virus check with your updated Antivirus program. If you don't have one installed, you can get an excellent one which is free for home use. This page will show you where to find the free AVG download. Be sure to uninstall any old antivirus programs before installing the new one. Instructions for this are on the page.

Finally, once all of this is done, and if the problem is not completely solved, you can download and run the HiJackThis program (from the Spyware section on my page). Run a scan and then post the scan log here in a new reply message. Be sure to run the previous steps first. Be careful with the HijackThis program. Don't remove anything unless you're sure about what you're doing. Only run the scan and then copy/paste the log page here.

Thanks for the suggestions; many of them I've tried.
They are really frustrating to get them to STOP!

Once you've scanned the system for both spyware and virus infections, post the HijackThis scan result and we should be able to locate the problem.

Before you get all hyper about spyware/virus infection, consider simply that that some twit has somehow added your name to his spam list. Don't assume you're infected with anything--assume your email address has been compromised.

A sort of roundabout solution: Try ePrompter (freeware). It can monitor up to 16 email accounts on a user-selectable schedule, alert you when new messages arrive and allow you to view/delete/reply to any. A bonus is that it displays text only, so HTML viruses won't execute though clickable links will open in your default browser if you choose.

Another option is to get more email addresses using the free services--the whole world spams me on one of my Yahoo addresses and I could care less. I only use the account when some turkey wants a verifiable address for a free download or something similar.

Depending on your email client software, you may be able to set up filters to block the senders of porno emails but these sleazes are aware of that and regularly change their "from" addresses to defeat that.

Best bet: Get a couple of "junk" email addresses and use them anytime you need to supply one on a website. If you hit a site you'd actually like to hear from, you can always change your address.

Finally, if you've pulled a "newbie" and actually given certain unspecified turkeys your real email address, contact your ISP and get a new one, Then pick a few webmail providers (I recommend Google, Yahoo! and Lycos) and get yourself a few accounts you can use for various purposes--subscribe to newsletters, get free software, etc.

jkp, I have an address that I use on websites that require them, to catch spam.I have to check them often, anyway, because legitimate mail will sometimes go into my junk folder, or to my alternate email address. I don't put every webpage I visit on my "safe" list. First, I want to hear from them.

I once visited a porno site called "alt.com," by accident, and for months and months I got tons of porno spam. I had to block every one separately. Finally, they stopped.
