Some people send replying e-mails which have the original e-mail printed underneath. So I send an e-mail and when they reply to it their reply has

"[My e-mail address ] wrote:..." followed by my original text underneath their answer.

How do I set up my system so as to do this?

When you receive an e-mail, just click on the word "reply" on the top left of the page, alongside reply all, forward, delete, etc. then when you type in your message and send it it will have the incoming, or received message under it.

But not necessarily formatted exactly as you showed preceding the original message. I think it depends on your email server.

No it doesn't ! I've just tried the experiment. When I click reply and send my reply there is no text written under the reply received at the other end. All that they get is my reply. There is no text of the original e-mail underneath. i've just tried this with two my two e-mail 'pseudonyms' on this computer. None of the e-mails I send to anyone in reply is received by them with their originating e-mail underneath.
So please explain !

It would help to know what email *client you are using. There are so many variables that might be a factor.

Can you just put your cursor where you want the message to appear? By that I mean, click into the Reply Message window, then scroll using the keyboard arrow keys to the place you want your message to appear. If you want it at the top, click into the Reply Message at or near the top and scroll to the beginning of the message. Type in your reply, then send it.

*An email "client" is the program used to receive and send email messages. Examples are:
Outlook Express (Free from Microsoft), Outlook (included with MS Office), Netscape, Eudora. There are many others.

You need to look for the menu that has the option to "Include original text in message"

In outlook it's under "Email options" and then "When Replying to messages"
