This is 3 edited postings I made Highlighting a Major New feature on Google Gmail which can be up and running before you can finish this paragraph

Google will begin to offer browser-based offline access to its Gmail Webmail application, a much-awaited feature.
This functionality, which will allow people to use the Gmail interface when disconnected from the Internet, has been expected since mid-2007.
That's when Google introduced Gears, a browser plug-in designed to provide offline access to Web-hosted applications like Gmail.
Gears is currently used for offline access to several Web applications from Google, like the Reader RSS manager and the Docs word processor, and from other providers like Zoho, which uses it for offline access to its e-mail and word processing browser-based applications
Quite a long article...IF Gears is in Situ from another Google application then No download is needed

A New buzzword has been born with this Feature "Flaky Connection Mode"
quote:
Flaky Connection Mode seems like a real winner for anyone whose connection is at all unreliable or just slow. The system works with the local cache of data, so everything happens very fast. But Gmail still syncs with its servers whenever your connection allows, so you still get new mail and messages you compose are sent as soon as possible. As long as you don’t need access to messages more than a few months old, it’s the best of both worlds

Additional piece of info posted elsewhere
quote:
There are some limitations to offline Gmail: Only about 10,000 messages will be downloaded--the newest and most recently used. You can't use the contacts tab to manage your connections, though e-mail address autocomplete works so you won't need to worry about remembering e-mail addresses. You can't include attachments on new messages. It's only available in Gmail for English speakers.
NOTE My File is only Just over 500 items(2 months Messages) big so No Pressure
It also has been Posted that the "Syncing" can be a bit erratic
Is now Showing in Google Labs (Top of the List)
Only difference Visually is There is a New Green Flask icon to access the Google Labs Link .A new link named "offline" and some number viz
0.1 (version?)
You must click this Link to Install the offline Client and follow the Messages
Once the Client is installed ,and "Synced" (Takes about 10 seconds first time) There is a grey info Window with clear Navigation Instruction links. To close click
Offline settings link. The "Offline" link has now been replaced with a Green Icon with a white Tick which when clicked brings up the Grey menu Window
As for running it properly You tell me...

Google have come up trumps again
Set up time just 30 seconds tops!
