Once you open your mail, You will see the categories: Mail-Addresses-Calender-Notebook. Click on the addresses bar. There are little squares next to each contact. if you left click with your mouse on the square, you will put a little check next to the name. Click the delete button and you will remove the contact.

If you have not updated to the Beta version the Layout is a bit clearer To swap locate the "Switch" link is on the page or Yahoo Homepage ..just closes the page and re opens it Been using it since it came out and I like it.. features like dragging and Dropping things Old version can't Dependent on Keyboard shortcuts ...which are a lot easier to use also in this version
