Was wondering has there been a name given to the element that is in the middle of fusion in the sun? The element that contains 2 protons and one neutron. Even for the small amount of time that it exists...it still exists.

Yes. Helium.

Elements are determined entirely by the number of protons. Why? The number of protons determines the number and configuration of the electrons. The number and configuration of electrons determines an element's chemical properties.

Two or more versions of the same element with different numbers of neutrons are called isotopes. With rare exception, they are referred to by their name followed by their number. The isotope you are interested in is called helium-3.
