Frank is right. Slugs are attracted to the yeast in beer. They crawl in and get really cozy before they drown. It's safe and it's not as messy as sprinkling SALT on them! ewwwwwwwww!!!!!

Yes beer, simple saucers or jar lids of beer. Also there are coppers trips which you put around the beds that you want the snails to stay out of. Their slime and the copper react in a manner that snails and slugs do not like. And then there is crushed clam shell, being rough (like tiny shards of glass) the snails and slugs don’t like to cross that either.

Copper stips are very good in preventing snails from invading beds. It's like us chewing on aluminum...yuck. Just make sure that there are no leaves touching the ground outside of the bed that slugs can slime up.
