I have a ficus tree that is getting way out of shape. I know when you see them in places, the trunk(s) are all intertwined and then the foliage at the top.....I've had mine for a couple of years and it's about 4 ft. tall. Well, the bottom foot is all nice and twisted, but then it goes into 3 separate twigs and the folliage is out of these to the top.

Are you supposed to trim these and twist or tie them up or anything to shape????? I keep tying a couple of them together with a ribbon to see what happens, but nothing....

suggestions?

You can try twisting your ficus trucks gradually with wire (the bonsai way).
